Who am I ?

Not  long back  I asked   myself  who am I ? I  had  a dilemma  regarding my own identity. May be it was an identity crisis. I had  doubts  about my being simply myself  or son  and  brother of  so and  so, a doctor, an Indian, and  thus list inflated  as I went  on speculating. I  then started  to explore  articles and  good works on the same subjects but they were too grammatical and kind of  word jugglary, the kind  an average reader can't  derive any substantial inference. Questions were genuine but  answers  were not within my ambit of conception. Flowery language has always  been  on side of  author  who gets  applaud for the same but readers are  put  in a state of confusion so much until  a vicious cycle is reached  and  queries compounded. But  I went on and on  waiting  for some miracle to happen. Every  author  had  his own idea which   I could never buy  as  " To  err  is  human ". They had their own  theories based on their  own experiences, indirectly drawn conclusions, or others' reference materials  all through material and  limited  senses . Scientific solutions are easily acceptable  but here was the question  of  non-material subject  where science  never  seemed  to satisfy any,  atleast  me.

Once  Issac Newton  was on the beach  playing with  pebble  and  likened  his  (insignificant!!!) knowledge to the pebble on the  vast  ocean  infront  giving  name of  his theory "Calculus" ( In greek, calculus means pebble) we  are in need  of such  innocent confessions.Turning  point was when  I started  reading  Bhagwad-Gita  as it is. It was also a borrowed  knowledge  as is the case with  rest of  writers, but  Bhagwad-Gita  one after the other  chapters  and verses  opened  pandora box of  solutions  right  infront of me  in a very simple way  without poetic words and adjectives. The real  Bhagwad-Gita instruction  starts  from chapter 2 verse 13 .The body is just a covering and  soul  residing  inside is real me. The secular  readers may not like such  revealations  but we need to  be  more flexible  to accomodate  one  more  thought  keeping   all  preconceived  notions  and prejudices  apart. Verses of  this literature  transcends  the  wordly  barriers  like  cast, colour , creed, commmunity , culture and country. This  verse  says  the  soul (real me)  passes through the body of   boyhood  to youth  to old age. I am the same person  eventhough body  has  to pass through  different shades of stages  from  innocent childhood to  energetic youth to  mature menhood to dwindling old age  culminating ultimately  into death.

Every  religious  books  has its own audience and  that should  never be a  hurdle  in a  path of self-realization. Knowledge is knowledge,  whichever  its  source might be. I  had never been  hesitant to embrace  anything  which  is  more informative and  rational to my  mind other than Bhagwad-gita too.  As a student  I  went  for  those books which  gave  me best of  knowledge  in  very  liquid , practical  and  comprehensive   manner. Every bit  of truth   in  this world is relative to some unknown  absolute  one and  I  will choose  the best of the  existing  (relative!!)  truths. Whether relative  or absolute , ultimately I got  my identity.
